What is the GDPR?
GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation.
The GDPR act came into force in 2018 and sets out specific ways that personal data can and cannot be used.
Example
Under GDPR, email marketers must obtain explicit consent before sending marketing emails to EU residents.
This means using clear opt-in checkboxes (not pre-checked), providing transparent privacy notices explaining how data will be used, and making it easy for subscribers to withdraw consent at any time.
Companies must also be able to delete personal data upon request and implement data protection measures to safeguard subscriber information.
