Frequently Asked Questions
What is EcoSend?
EcoSend is an email marketing platform that is carbon negative. A product of GoSquared, our founders were keen to contribute a solution towards fixing the climate crisis.
So many people don’t realise that our internet use also generates carbon emissions, and email marketing is no exception.
We strived to create a solution that would allow businesses to market their products and services, but in a way that was kinder to the planet. We put our heads together and EcoSend was born.
Is email marketing bad for the environment?
Everything we do online has an impact in the physical world.
Email marketing does indeed had an impact on the environment: every email requires real servers using real energy to produce, send, and consume.
That's why old-school methods for sending email — sending masses of emails without segmenting audiences, and using an older, less climate conscious email marketing platform, have real consequences.
EcoSend is the first and only email marketing solution that enables businesses to cut their carbon emissions. We plant trees for every 5,000 emails sent with EcoSend. Our infrastructure is powered by renewable energy. And we reinvest a portion of our profits into climate-focused causes.
If that wasn’t enough, we provide you with a range of tools to send more effective marketing campaigns. Not only can you use our tools to boost your email ROI, but your efforts will also help the planet. We’d call that a win-win!
What is sustainable marketing?
Sustainable marketing is looking at every opportunity to reduce the impact on the environment when creating marketing campaigns.
EcoSend is just the ticket, as no other email marketing platform is even talking about reducing carbon emissions, let alone planting trees and taking action in your honour.
How does carbon offsetting work?
Carbon offsetting involves calculating your carbon emissions (i.e. generated from your marketing) and creating a plan to offset these emissions. At EcoSend, we offset emissions by planting trees, using renewable energy, and reinvesting a portion of our profits into carbon removal.
What is the difference between "carbon negative" and "net zero"?
Carbon negative and net zero have a lot of similarities but are slightly different entities.
Carbon negative is when an organisation (such as EcoSend) removes more carbon than it emits.
Net zero means cutting emissions to as close to zero as possible.
Both carbon negative and net zero efforts should be applauded, as both terms mean you are doing your bit for the environment.
However, at EcoSend our goal is to be carbon negative. We want to go one step further than net zero.
What are the benefits of green marketing?
All of us have a personal duty to reduce our carbon emissions as much as possible. Green marketing is one such way to do this, and a tool like EcoSend makes it easier.
With EcoSend you won’t miss out on any of the amazing features of an email marketing automation tool, yet every single campaign will have a positive impact on the climate.
