We’re thrilled to share that EcoSend, as a brand of our parent company GoSquared, is now a certified B Corporation.
We couldn’t be more excited to join the growing movement of B Corps around the world. Our B Corp certification is the ultimate validation of the hard work our team dedicates every day to making email a force for good in the world. — James Gill, CEO of EcoSend
B Corp certification: meeting B Lab’s high standards
Becoming a Certified B Corporation, means:
We have been verified as meeting B Lab’s high standards for social and environmental impact.
We have made a legal commitment to stakeholder governance.
We are demonstrating accountability and transparency by disclosing our record of performance in a public B Corp profile.
By certifying, B Corps step into a framework for continuous improvement. In order to maintain certification, companies must undertake the assessment and verification process every three years, demonstrating they are still meeting B Lab’s standards — which are themselves always improving, with continual input from expert stakeholders.
Business should be a force for good, positively impacting all stakeholders — workers, communities, customers, and our planet
As a B Corp, we’re now part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.
Since day one, we set out to make EcoSend a force for good in the world.
We power our infrastructure with renewable energy, we build software with the latest digital sustainability principles, we volunteer countless hours of team time to good causes, we’ve planted over 10,000 trees, we turn away business from controversial industries… These are just a few examples of the initiatives we’ve been doing for years.
EcoSend was born out of GoSquared — our software business that’s been running since 2006. We’ve always believed in doing things the right way.
Our team, our shareholders, and our leadership believe in the ethos and mission of B Corp and have certified all of GoSquared, not just EcoSend — meaning our entire business now proudly aligns with the values of the movement.
You can become a B Corp yourself
We’re excited to finally call ourselves a B Corp, but we want the number of B Corps to grow.
Despite there being millions of businesses in the world, there are still less than 10,000 B Corps in existence (at the time of writing, there are 9,902 B Corps).
We believe every business should exist for more than just profit.
What many people don’t realise is you can start by looking at the B Impact Assessment (BIA) tool right now, for free.
There is no pressure to become a B Corp, but it’s a brilliant place to start as it shows you where you may already be strong, and uncovers areas you may have overlooked in terms of what your business can do to be a force for good.
The B Lab website has extensive information on where to start and how to become a B Corp.
Thank you
The B Corp journey has been long and challenging, with many bridges to cross. It’s pushed us to ask difficult questions about ourselves, our customers, our processes, and our beliefs. It’s made us stronger and we’re so grateful to have learned so much from it.
We finalised our certification with a score of 88.7 points. In the current process there are a total of 200 points available, with 80 being the minimum threshold to certify.
Certifying wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible hard work of our team, in particular Paula and Chris who have been on the receiving end of many questions. We must thank Bruno Scott for his extensive advice and support, Tim Maiden of Green Small Business for our sustainability reporting, and Tim Jones of GrowGood for assistance with our documentation.
Beyond the team that have been part of the application process, we could not have done this without the support of our passionate customer base — many of whom are B Corps themselves. You have inspired us, educated us, and motivated us to get to where we are now. Thank you.
We’re just getting started
While B Corp certification has been a huge project and taken countless hours and hard work from across the team, we know it’s not the end goal — it’s a step on the journey.
We look forward to sharing more about our steps to this point, what we’re doing to improve, and where we’re going next.
Stay tuned!
