Hard Bounce

What is a Hard Bounce?

A hard bounce in email marketing is when an email does not reach the recipient due to a permanent reason. Usually, this is either because the IP has been blocked or the email address no longer exists.

Example

Examples of hard bounces include sending an email to "john@example.com" when the domain "example.com" no longer exists, or emailing "example@gmail.com" when that specific Gmail account has been permanently deleted.

These emails will immediately bounce back with an error message indicating the permanent failure, and the email addresses should be removed from your mailing list to maintain good sender reputation.
