Update mis-typed email addresses in Contacts

June 24, 2026

We’re relieved to finally address a quirk that has frustrated some of you for a while.

If you don’t have double-opt-in enabled on Forms, it’s possible you may occassionally see contacts in your audience that have incorrect email addresses. For example, a contact may have mistyped “gmail” as “gmaiil”. You can see what they meant to type, but now they’ll never receive a single email from you without an intervention.

Until now, you were stuck — you had to delete the contact and add a new one with the correct email address. This was always an imperfect stopgap measure, and we’ve now addressed it.

To edit a mis-typed email address, just head to the contact’s profile and hit Edit in the top left of the screen. As you type, EcoSend will automatically search for contacts with the same email address to make sure you can safely update it. Once you’re happy, just hit Update.

To avoid unexpected behaviour, EcoSend will not allow you to change a contact’s email address to one that is already set on another contact. Instead you can use the Merge feature to merge one contact into another.

One note on this — we wouldn’t be doing our jobs properly unless we gave a gentle reminder: only ever send email to people who have given you permission. This update is designed so you can fix obvious typos from contacts who have legitimately opted in to receive your emails.

If you’ve been waiting a while for this one, thank you for your patience. We’ve wanted to solve this for as long you’ve been waiting, so we’re thrilled to share a solution that works reliably and safely.

Go forth and send confidently — in the knowledge that your audience and data will be in better shape than ever.
