What Are Forms?
Let’s rewind for a second for anyone who is new to website forms.
Simply put, a form displays a series of fields on your website. Users fill out the information you have requested, and when the form is submitted that information is sent directly to you.
Forms can be used to grow your business in lots of ways including for:
Customer feedback
Customer signups
Demo bookings
Event bookings
Lead generation
Newsletter signups
Quotation requests
Support requests
When a form is placed on your website, it can be used to grab leads in endless ways, making forms an incredible tool for your marketing strategy.
According to research, 66% of those who start filling out a form will go on to complete it.
So, think of a website form almost like a digital concierge. It gives users an interface to connect with so that you can get back to them at a time that suits you. Without a form to fill out, that potential lead could just leave your website never to return.
Good to know: At EcoSend, our forms can be displayed as inline forms or pop-up forms. This allows you to decide what will offer the best user experience for your website.
What Is Form Conversion Rate And Why Does It Matter?
A form conversion rate gives you a percentage (i.e. 39%) based on successful conversional actions. For instance, downloads generated or quotation requests that led to actual sales.
Seeing your conversion rate as a percentage is useful because it tells you upfront whether or not your form is successfully attracting and converting leads on your website.
While some industries struggle with lower than average conversion rates, ideally, you always want to be monitoring the figures to improve things where you can.

Form Conversion Rate FAQs
Still have questions about how forms placed on your website can increase conversions for your business? Let’s delve right into some of the most asked queries!
What Is A Form On A Website?
A website form allows customers to enter their data securely to connect with your business. The reason for the form could be to sign up to your email list, enquire about your services or submit feedback. Overall, forms are considered an essential lead generation tool for businesses.
What Is The Average Form Conversion Rate?
Research suggests that forms convert between 3% and 5% of leads. Though, it’s worth noting that form conversion rates can vary dramatically depending on the industry.
Why aim for average though? With a carefully designed form that is placed in a prominent location on your website, the sky’s the limit!
How To Increase Form Conversion Rate
Are you familiar with the phrase ‘less is more’? Well, when it comes to boosting the success of your website forms, reducing the number of fields is a winning strategy to try. In short, remove anything that seems lengthy, unnecessary or frustrating for users to fill in.
Beyond the number of fields, it’s also essential that your website visitors trust the look of your form. On EcoSend Forms, you can customise the look of your form to match your branding. Compared with putting a random form generator on your website, a form which looks like it belongs to your company can appear far more trustworthy.
How To Embed A Form On A Website
If you create a form using EcoSend Forms, you will be given a snippet of code at the end. All you have to do is paste this code into your website to embed the form.

Or, if you are using another CMS, all you need to do is paste the code into your applicable CMS.
How To Stop Spam From Website Contact Form
On EcoSend Forms, we’ve made it possible to add a CAPTCHA code to your form or insist on a double opt-in to prevent spam.
If you build a form elsewhere and don’t include either of these measures, you will most likely get lots of spam submissions. Often, these come from spambots rather than humans and they can be very frustrating to receive.
Luckily, it only takes a couple of clicks to protect your form from spam submissions. In the EcoSend Form builder tool, we’ve made it easy to drag and drop CAPTCHA or double-opt-in functionality into your form. All you have to do is then embed the form into your website, and viola!
