Why the Good Business Charter chose EcoSend for communicating their mission and values
About the customer
The Good Business Charter is a simple accreditation which organisations in the UK can sign up to in recognition of responsible business practices, measuring behaviour over ten components. It was founded by retailer Julian Richer – and he knows that people do care about shopping with responsible businesses – but they often don’t know who is behaving responsibly … and who is not!
Which is why the GBC was launched – to solve that problem. To be a clear signpost to those organisations that are walking the walk, not just talking the talk. Who are doing the specific, practical things that show they are caring about people and planet.
The challenge
The team at the GBC run regular reviews to ensure their chosen suppliers are in alignment with the its value and mission statement.
A recent review highlighted their choice of email platform as an area of improvement, prompting the team to investigate climate-conscious alternatives. EcoSend, already a member of the GBC, were chosen as a leading alternative to trial. After assessing the EcoSend’s email marketing features, sustainability credentials and migration process, GBC completed their trial and successfully made the switch.
We’re committed to ensuring we hold our suppliers to the same high standards and criteria that we expect of our accredited organisations. We were already aware of EcoSend as an accredited organisation, which set the stage for reviewing their platform as an alternative to our existing email supplier.

Results
GBC began by importing their contacts from Intuit Mailchimp via EcoSend’s dedicated Mailchimp Importer tool. This ensured their data stored in Mailchimp was successfully migrated across into EcoSend Contacts, including their clients’ custom tags.
GBC have a large audience, which requires segmentation according to tags, so having an easy way to migrate this data across was a crucial part of their switchover.
After migrating their data, GBC’s next step was to integrate an EcoSend Form into their website, in order to continue to build their Newsletter list.
With their existing data successfully migrated and new sign-ups entering into their database, GBC were ready to send out their first newsletter campaign using EcoSend’s drag & drop email builder.
GBC’s Marketing team are now able to easily recreate and edit their newsletters each month, and these send out to their dedicated segments.
The EcoSend Support team were helpful and available throughout the migration and set-up process. This really helped with the switchover, and ensured there were no delays in sending out our newsletter while we made the switch.
