About the customer
Springer Nature is a global research, educational and professional publisher. Founded on a heritage of trusted and respected brands – including Springer (1842), Macmillan (1843) and Nature, (1869), the academic publisher is committed to publishing high quality content and developing innovative products and services supporting the advancement of science and education.
Its Research Communities, open to its authors, editors and all of the research community, provide a forum for all those interested in research to share the latest discoveries, news, and opinions. They form part of the publisher’s commitment to providing a collaborative space for the community to share and develop ideas outside of the traditional journal format.
The challenge
The Research Communities Team at Springer Nature required an email platform to send out a large-scale series of communications to over 50,000 members across their portfolio of 42 Communities as part of a platform migration project, which moved all Research Communities from standalone sites to one central hub.
The team required a platform to manage the high volume and scale of their communications requirements, and which could guarantee a successful deployment of emails to their membership, ensuring they were informed of the planned changes to the Research Communities’ platform.
To achieve this, the Research Communities team required a straightforward, no-code, drag & drop HTML campaign creation tool to allow them to quickly create brand-aligned emails with calls to action.
Results
Using EcoSend's Drag & Drop Visual Editor and Broadcasts the team created a brand-aligned email campaign without the need to code it in HTML. The first email sent to Community users was a personalised pre-rebrand campaign notifying them of the upcoming changes and what they can expect to see. Upon completion of the migration project, users received a second email informing them of the completion of the updates to the platform and what improvements have been made.
The Communities team continue their communication with their members through a series of automated emails sent at different points throughout their user journey to ensure they are familiar with the platform and have all the knowledge and tools they need to best engage with other members of the community and use the Communities in a way best suited to their needs.
High-volume email campaigns can often result in a heavy carbon-cost, however by choosing EcoSend, the carbon footprint of communications sent in Springer Nature's campaigns are absorbed byEcoSend's tree-planting partnership with Treeapp.
