Email Delivery Rate

June 2025

What is email delivery rate?

Email deliverability is all about making sure the emails you send reach your recipients.

Email delivery rate measures the number of emails that arrive in your subscriber's inboxes compared with the total number of emails sent.

It's important to understand and measure email deliverability. If your email deliverability rate is poor, then you're sending campaigns which are not being recieved — a waste of everyone's time, and ultimately lowering any return on investment you hope to achieve.

Many factors can impact your email deliverability. This includes your sender reputation, which can be based on the content of your subject lines along with the volume of emails you send in a certain timeframe.

Many other factors also impact deliverability, which is why it's important to read up on email best practices, especially if you want to fix a poor deliverability rate or maintain an existing good rate.

Example

If you send an email campaign to 500 recipients, and 10 of those emails bounce, only 490 emails were actually received.

490 of 500 received the email, giving you an email delivery rate of 98%.

In general, an email delivery rate of 95% and above is considered acceptable, and the closer you can get to 100% the better.

Low email deliverability rates can result in damage to your sender reputation, meaning your emails may automatically be filtered as spam.
