Activate Automations

Combine in-app, email, and behaviour triggers to send the right message, to the right person, at the right time.

Introduction

Convert prospects, onboard new sign-ups, and engage with your users throughout their subscription cycle, with EcoSend Automations!

EcoSend Automations allow you to set-up messaging flows and engage with users at key milestones throughout their user-journey.

Key use-cases for Automations include:

  • Onboarding Flows

  • Celebrating milestone activation points

  • Conversion Sequences

  • Proactive Re-engagement

Smart Groups 👥

EcoSend Automations are powered by Smart Groups in your Contacts section, which update in real-time.

Your messages are triggered when a contact enters a Smart Group or exists a Smart Group.

Smart Group Triggers

In Contacts you can group users based on:

  • Their online activity, such as the number of times they have visited your platform or logged-into your app

  • User properties (attributes), such as location, or company name, company position.

  • Message behaviour Segmentation, such as which contacts have opened your recent email campaigns, or which email addresses recently bounced.

Create a group by saving any combination of filters, such as 'Last seen online 2 weeks ago' AND 'Company Industry contains Sustainability'.

These real time updates can be used to trigger Automated Messages. Send a message when a user...

  • Enters a Smart Group – when a new user matches the filters

  • Exits a Smart Group – when an existing user stops matching the filters

Building your Automation 🛠️

Once you've created your Smart Group and rules for entry, it's time to build out your Automation 🎉

You can select between one-off Automated Messages, or Sequences. Automated Messages are one-off events, while Sequences send a series of messages.

Give your Automation a Name and purpose so you can reference back to it later on. Then select the relevant Smart Group as the trigger to fire the Automation(s).

Messaging Options

EcoSend gives you a range of message options, to ensure you hit your recipients in exactly the right format. Choose between:

  • In-app only

These are best for messaging users when they are already online. Retain their engagement on your platform by triggering in-app
nudges to celebrate their first milestones and nudge them to activate additional features or check out other ares of your site.

  • In-app & Email
Combine both and send via in-app and email simultaneously.

  • Simple Email
Give recipients a sense of 1-2-1 outreach with a Simple Email. These work best for 'personal' outreach from a particular agent, such as
re-engaging cold leads, or requesting a Case Study from a super-user.

  • HTML
Craft aesthetic, long-form HTML emails with the EcoSend Visual Editor. No knowledge of HTML required! Use our drag & drop functionality
to create Newsletters, Product Updates, Event announcements and more!

In-app - Onboarding Nudge

In-app - Milestone Celebration

Simple Email - Nurture Sequence

Adding Variables 👋

When creating a message in EcoSend, you can add a Variable by typing “{{” to bring up the Variable picker.

You can also insert a Variable by hitting the “Insert” button to bring up the Insert menu, or by highlighting a piece of text and choosing “Add a Variable” from the inline menu.

In the variable picker, you can choose from any properties or events you’re tracking against your contacts in GoSquared, such as 'First Name',
'Company Industry', etc.

Selecting the Variable in your message will bring up the Variable options panel where you can change the Variable, and set a fallback.

To add a Variable in HTML, you will need to write-out your selected Variable.

For example, if you viewed the ‘First Name’ Variable from the drop-down picker, you would need to type-out {{ first_name }} in HTML.
