We’re excited to introduce a set of new features that deliver on one of the top requests you’ve been asking for: the ability to manage multiple lists, and offer contacts the ability to manage their subscription preferences.
As with every feature we bring to EcoSend, we’ve focused on creating this feature with the following values in mind:
Easy to use
Clear and transparent
Privacy focused
Accessible
Climate conscious
Easy to use
Subscription preferences and unsubscribe behaviour in EcoSend has so far been sublimely simple: every contact is either subscribed to email or unsubscribed. This is great for most use cases — contacts hit one “unsubscribe” link and they no longer receive emails from you.
However, many of you have been wanting to do more sophisticated email marketing with EcoSend, and send more campaigns with a variety of different goals.
For example, many organisations send a regular newsletter to their customers, but they also want to send a separate, regular cadence of email updates to their investors, or another group of stakeholders about a separate topic.
Clear and transparent
With Lists, you can now create a list for each of your communication needs, and offer contacts the ability to opt-in and opt-out of each individually. So you could have a list for your newsletter, your product updates, and your investor updates.
Loud and clear, you told us you want to offer your contacts the ability to pick and choose which emails they receive, and we have been working with many of you to define and build this functionality to deliver on those needs.
Lists are optional, so if you just have one audience, and don’t need the ability to manage multiple lists, then you don’t need to change a thing.
Privacy focused
We’ve considered privacy throughout the stack for Lists. From subscribing contacts to a List, to enabling them to update their subscription preferences, ensuring private lists are invisible to those who are not on them, and ensuring we limit the possibility of personally identifiable data leaking unexpectedly via stray unsubscribe links.
Aside from this, as with everything in EcoSend, we’ve ensured every aspect of Lists is fully GDPR compliant by default, ensuring you remain GDPR compliant without any extra work.
Accessible
Every new feature we bring to EcoSend is designed with WCAG guidelines in mind. We want a world where the web and email is truly designed for everyone. Lists, the new Subscription Preferences pages, and other related features in this release have all been tested to comply with WCAG and be as accessible as possible for all users.
Climate conscious
This functionality is an important step towards our goals of reducing the carbon footprint of digital marketing. A world where email is more thoughtful and a force for good.
Lists make it easier for organisations to manage their contacts and send campaigns to the people who genuinely want to receive them.
Subscription Preferences ensure contacts can easily opt in and out of the communications that matter to them.
All in all, this new functionality means organisations can now choose to send more of their email with EcoSend (great for everyone!), but also means you can be far more confident that every email you send is going to people who truly want to receive it.

Lists and Subscription Preferences are now available for all customers. Head to your Project Settings to create your first List today. You can learn more about Lists and Subscription Preferences in our support knowledge base.
