About the customer
The Skills Gap helps organisations and their people turn sustainability ambition into
confident, everyday action.
They start by understanding where you are, your goals, challenges, and current level of knowledge, before designing learning experiences that fit around busy schedules.
Their approach blends insight, interaction, and reflection to build both capability and confidence, creating a clear path from first steps to measurable impact.
Everything The Skills Gap does is shaped by one principle: change only lasts when people feel part of it. By making sustainability learning practical, relevant, and rewarding, they help teams not just learn about change, but lead it.
A key part of this approach is the “Sustainability in 60 Seconds” series, a free, weekly email based learning experience designed to make sustainability simple, engaging, and easy to apply.
This complements The Skills Gap’s wider microlearning solutions, helping individuals build knowledge in a way that fits around their day.
To launch our ‘Sustainability in 60 Seconds’ series, we needed a platform that made it easy to deliver consistent, engaging learning at scale. EcoSend’s Sequences feature and drag and drop builder have enabled us to create a weekly learning experience that’s simple, accessible, and easy to build over time.

The challenge
As The Skills Gap developed its “Sustainability in 60 Seconds” series, the team needed a way to deliver consistent, high-quality learning content to a growing audience, while keeping it engaging, accessible, and easy to maintain over time.
The team were previously sending out campaigns via Mailchimp, but were drawn to EcoSend’s sustainability ethos and B Corp status, alongside the need for a more flexible and structured way to manage their growing learning communications.
To support this, The Skills Gap required the following features:
- Drag and drop email builder for sending out ‘Learning Hub’ updates
- List segmentation for their Hub and ‘Sustainability in 60 Seconds’ series
- Mailchimp database migration and storage of all contact email addresses
- Inline and pop-up forms to collect sign-ups from their website
- Automated welcome journey campaigns to drip-feed sustainability lessons
We’re currently tracking a strong aggregated click-through rate of 37.7% over the past 30 days. Our audience is responding well to the clean design and clear layout, which makes it easy to engage with each sustainability lesson delivered in every campaign.

Building a structured learning journey
A key feature for The Skills Gap is EcoSend’s Sequences functionality. This enables the team to deliver the “Sustainability in 60 Seconds” series as a structured, ongoing learning journey, delivered as a weekly newsletter designed to build knowledge over time.
The series is built as a long-term curriculum, with ambitions to deliver over two years’ worth of weekly content. As new lessons are created, they can be added into the sequence, allowing the curriculum to evolve while continuing to deliver value to both new and existing subscribers.
The newsletter has received consistently positive feedback, particularly around the clarity and practicality of the content, as well as the clean, accessible email design.
EcoSend’s sustainability-led approach also aligns closely with The Skills Gap’s values, ensuring that even the delivery of the learning experience reflects the principles it promotes.
This approach allows sustainability learning to feel light-touch and accessible, while still creating consistent engagement and progression.
Segmenting and managing audiences effectively
The team used EcoSend Lists to segment audiences between The Skills Gap’s Learning Hub, it’s microlearning platform designed to build sustainability knowledge across workforces, and Sustainability in 60 Seconds subscribers, ensuring content remains relevant and targeted across both audiences.
Their existing database was imported directly from Mailchimp using EcoSend’s dedicated importer, allowing for a smooth transition without disruption.
Creating and scaling campaigns efficiently
With EcoSend’s drag and drop email builder and Saved Blocks feature, The Skills Gap is able to quickly create consistent, branded campaigns without needing to code.
The team also deployed embedded and pop-up Forms to support ongoing subscriber growth and expand their audience.
This allows The Skills Gap to use email not just for communication, but as a delivery channel for ongoing learning that complements its wider microlearning platform.
